Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
If simple-ccsm is not installed, it doesn't let you use custom options.
So I made a patch for this bug. I added only a little bit of code. With
this, the Custom option under the Visual Effects tab of gnome-
appearance-preferences will show if the desktop is using special
effects. When the preferences button is clicked, it will open simple-
ccsm.
I think simple-ccsm is a way better choice than compizconfig-settings-
manager since so many problems can be caused with that one. However,
when simple-ccsm is not installed, it will ask you to install it and
then run it.
I hardly think this patch will disrupt the way users previously used
gnome-appearance-properties. It could be put in Lucid but I would like
it better in Karmic :P
** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Confirmed
