Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-applets
I updated Ubuntu from 9.04 to 9.10. (main restricted universe multiverse
partner karmic-backports, no foreign for now)
I'm using 2 panels, one top, one bottom, with many applets. Amongst others 2
weather applets (2 locations).
gnome-applets 2.28.0-0ubuntu2
gnome-panel 1:2.28.0-0ubuntu6
At the first login the gnome panels didn't load, it remains empty
(grey). The only possibility to do anything was to add a starter to the
desktop. It seems everything is working except the panel. This way I got
a shell (gnome-terminal). I killed the panel (killall gnome-panel), then
it reloaded fine. Next reboot the panels load fine. But every other or
third boot the panels do not load. I tried to kill different apps and it
seems weather-applet-2 did the trick. After killing weather-applet-2
gnome-panel starts loading. Without the weather applet gnome loads (as
far as I can see) on every login.
I expect the gnome panels to load even if some applet crashes or stops
responding.
I do not know how to dig further into it, please tell me.
