I had similar problem with two of the four partitions on an external usb drive. Edited fstab and noted that those two were the only ones that didn't use 'defaults' so for the moment I changed them to 'defaults' and the duplicate entries went away. Now I have to check if everything works. I also have 64-bit Karmic (was Jaunty but did upgrade, which btw crashed the first time through). The partitions in question are used all the time; one is my primary data disk, and the other is used for virtualbox disks.
