Public bug reported:
Always use custom .wav sound for announcing arrival of new mail in
Thunderbird, but on new Ubuntu 9.10 installation, the .wav sound chosen
(same with others tried, too) merely gives a short burst of crackling
static type sound, however sound playing apps installed (Movie Player
and Thythmbox Music Player) play back these same .wav sounds perfectly.
Had no such problem with Ubuntu 9.04.
