I migrated from 9.4 to 9.10 two days a go on an AcerAspireOne aoa150 (UNR)

Expected: working gdm with traditional login/password prompt instead of user
selector.
Happened:
1. xserver crash and lose of gdm config after having tryed parameters changes
in custom.conf and gdm.conf.
2. Restored a working xorg.conf that orks with 'xinit', 'xinit fluxbox' or
'xinit gdm'.
'start gdm' still don't works. Spent many hours on the forums, tried,
rebooted...
3. Reverted to gdm-2.20 without success. Forums, many tries and reboots. That
package do not works at all.
4. Purged the latest: dpkg --force-depends purge gdm-2.20
5. Reinstalled gdm, tryed, rebooted.
No change on behaviour: 'gdm', 'xinit gdm' all works from command line under
root account, but 'start gdm' don't....
6. Installed kdm: don't works
7. Installed xdm: working!
8. Redone many 'dpkg-reconfigure' for xserver-xorg, gdm, kdm and xdm and
rebooted some times. Only xdm could start.
System shutdown for the night with gdm enabled...
9. System rebooted today without troubles!!! I did nothing in the mean time.
But bug report opened, reason for the present report. Et voila!
