I don't know exactly where the preferences are located but i've renamed ~/.gnom2/gedit and /usr/share/gedit-2 directories and started Gedit. The problem is still there. The screen gets covered in the gray layer as when X stops responding, i guess. Again, the thing recovers when i click somewhere.
