Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

The Empty Deleted Items button in the deleted items folder does not work
if ubuntu starts with no items in the folder, if any files were in there
from a previous session the button works properly.

When the button is not working, files can still be deleted by right
clicking them and using Delete Permanently, or by using the taskbar
applet.

I tested this with a clean install of ubuntu 9.10 in virtualbox to rule
out any issues with my laptop, all settings are defaults.

This bug is easily reproduced by starting ubuntu with no files in the
Deleted Items Folder.
