Binary package hint: yelp
The install program will not let you install Ubuntu side by side with
winXP on the first harddrive /dev/sda. When choosing "use the largest
free space" . if the second harddrive /dev/sdb is larger with free
space. You should be able to install ubuntu on the first harddrive along
side WinXP without touching the second drive. tired the install twice
both times it wanted to install Ubuntu on the second drive with out the
option of installing and the first drive.
