** Description changed: Binary package hint: gdm Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated Sometimes after the white ubuntu logo gdm/xsplash doesn't start (it happened 3 times so far with a 9.10 freshly installed on october 26). Normal boot process: white ubuntu logo-->lcd blacklight goes off--->blacklight turns on-->xsplash. Problematic boot process: white ubuntu logo-->lcd blacklight goes off-->nothing. Alt+Sysrq+R+S+E+I+U+B don't work,I need a hard reset. After hard reset I need to go into recovery mode-->resume boot-->log in--->start gdm (in normal mode the boot process still hangs).GDM starts and everything goes back to normal(normal boot works).
