Thanks for your information Garret. In my case, I am not using any propietary driver, so I cannot do any test in that direction.
I did another test: I activated the kernel mode setting in my Jaunty system, but autologin is still not working when I reboot from Jaunty to Karmic. In order to activate Kernel Mode Setting in Jaunty, I had to upgrade the system using the ppa xorg-edgers. Here is the info that I used to do the upgrade: http://www.ubuntu-inside.me/2009/06/howto-turn-on-kms-at-ubuntu-jaunty-and.html Well, kernel mode setting started just in Karmic, maybe it needs to be improved somehow. By the way, in Jaunty the kernel mode setting is working fine, but anyway there is some unexpected behaviour when booting, some error is shown for a tiny while. I think this is just fine, since I am currently using a kernel version that is NOT suitable for Jaunty. -- GDM autologin not working on Karmic ONLY AFTER using Jaunty (or probably also older ubuntu versions) and rebooting into Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462201 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
