This bug is still present in Karmic. It's gotten more frequent too. Usually my first attempt to burn a DVD+R will give a "Unknown Error" from Brasero. I'm using the same media as previously mentioned (MCC).
I have to eject the disc after the error appears then reinsert the same DVD into the drive and retry the same burn to successfully burn.
