In my opinion, the UI around adding a Jabber account is at worst misleading, and at best unclear.
When adding a Jabber account, you're presented with two radio buttons, one of which says "create new account" and the other "reuse an existing account." This is confusing because, you're creating the record of the account in Empathy, so you're "creating an account" in that sense. That's how I ran into this issue. Technically, maybe it's not a bug, but it felt like one. One way to fix this would be to remove those radio buttons and default to reusing an existing account. You could then have a separate button or link that says "Create an account..." and goes to a different UI. -- Empathy 2.28.0 reports: "Name in use" thus preventing to establish XMPP communication https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442222 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
