Binary package hint: totem

updated to a new (current) Ubuntu system- on playing previously
downloaded videos on Movie Player, a)the initial screen logo is
intellible and b) after starting the video, it shuts down after a few
seconds or c) shuts down after moving the slider.

Can I revert to the previous Ubuntu programme when it was working
without difficulty?
