Hi,

Could you please re-open this as I have the same problem. I was
submitting a problem via the gnome-nettool 'Report a problem' link, and
the web-form led me here - I am not sure if the information collected
from my system has been attached (so please excuse any repetition).

The problem is illustrated by the gnome-nettool Ping tab, but also
occurs on other tabs retaining history (e.g. Traceroute). The problem
manifests itself as the history drop down list appearing full of blank
entries - different user accounts showing different numbers of blank
entries depending on their use of the tool. Entering a new address
results in a new blank entry (up to the history limit). Edit | Clear
history resets the list.

Attempting to gain some further information I started the tool with privileges
from a terminal session:
   gksu gnome-nettool

The following was reported:
(gnome-nettool:2779): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion `text !=
NULL' failed

(gnome-nettool:2779): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion

Initiating a ping on 127.0.0.1 gave:
(gnome-nettool:2808): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion `text !=
NULL' failed

(gnome-nettool:2808): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_toplevel: assertion

command: /bin/ping ping -b -c 5 -n 127.0.0.1

(gnome-nettool:2808): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_toplevel:

Attempting to select one of the blank entries from the drop down list gave:
(gnome-nettool:2808): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion `text !=
NULL' failed

Expectation:
The tool should have stored the entered network addresses (e.g. 127.0.0.1) and
made them available from the drop down list. Selecting an entry from the drop
down list should have populated the Network Address field.
