Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-utils
To reproduce:
1. Open Log File Viewer
2. Select kern.log, switch to messages, identify any message that is common to
both log files.
3. Create a filter that identifies the common message (menu Filters/Manage
Filters: Add).
4. Select the newly created filter (check menu item Filters/<filter name>), and
confirm that the effects of the filter are visible in messages.
5. Switch to kern.log
Result: The menu item Filters/<filter name> is still checked;
however, the effects of the filter are not observed.
6. Uncheck menu item Filters/<filter name>.
7. Recheck menu item Filters/<filter name>.
Result: The effects of the filter are now observed.
Expected behavior after step 5, either:
1, Filter remains checked AND effects of the filter are observed in kern.log.
(Personally preferred.)
2. All filter selections are cleared when switching to new log file.
(Similar to current behavior whenever closing the Manage Filters dialog).
PS: IMHO, whenever the Manage Filters dialog is closed, it would be preferable
for:
1. Newly added filters to be automatically selected.
2. Previous filter selections to be retained.
