Another funny thing. Maximized windows always leave approximately 1px space on tom, so I can peek at the shown gnome-panel, and even click on it, although it's hard to tell sometimes what I'm clicking. All hints from applets and launchers, and what's most important, all dropdown menus, shows on top of everything, just as they supposed to.
