Neither 2.6.31-17-generic, 2.6.31-16-generic, or 2.6.31-19-generic will
suspend or hibernate on a Dell m4400 when a user is logged in via gdm.
I'm running swap off a separate partition.

No errors appear in the /var/log/pm-suspend.log. I have a suspicion
this is not a kernel problem. But I'm going to try installing some
other older kernels. This used to work fine.

BTW: I reinstalled grub boot loader: that appeared to have fixed the
weird -pae problems.
