We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures Could you please provide the following logs: /var/log/messages /var/log/Xorg.0.log the output of lspci and lsusb might also be useful. Also, you need to state which release you are using, and if possible; try and recreate the bug in the latest development release.
