I can reproduce this: 1) Boot laptop with usb keyboard attached 2) Modify key repeat rates and delays to your preference using GUI 3) Unplug keyboard and replug keyboard
On both my laptops running Karmic, the delay and repeat are reset. Interestingly, the bars in the GUI are not reset, but their effect is. This also happens if I control the rate and delay using xset: 1) Boot laptop with usb keyboard 2) Do $ xset r rate 200 60 3) Unplug and replug keyboard The same happens. I guess the GUI is controlling xset then. So the problem lies with xset. Hope someone picks up on this!
