Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS
Package version: evince 2.22.2-0ubuntu2

Steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. Open the PDF document (used
"http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/JavaEETutorial.pdf";);
  2. Scroll to a page containing one of the following words: "briefly",
"Simplified", "Unified", "benefit", "file";
  3. Select the word with the mouse;

What was expected to happen:

  The word should have been selected and displayed correctly.

What happened instead:

  The word was selected but displayed with the letter f duplicated. By
duplicated I mean:
     - the word "file" turns to "ffle" when selected;
     - the word "briefly" turns to "brieffly" when selected;
     - the word "Simplified" turns to "Simpliffed" when selected;
     - the word "Unified" turns to "Uniffed" when selected;
     - the word "benefit" turns to "benefft" when selected.

  However, the words "verifier" and "following" are correctly displayed
when selected.

Other observations:

  1. Selecting the words and then copying and pasting them into a text editor
works correctly;
  2. Using "Edit->find..." to select the words works correctly.
