I think this is not a problem of empathy its rather the way facebook
chat behaves. in my case the username s are shown as
u3235...@chat.facebook.com please ask you contact to register their
username by opening facebook.com/username then you will see their
username. and also facebook chat is not officially supported at this
point it is only working as gtalk way. Facebook chat will be implemented
fully in empathy 2.32
