This also affects me using Dell Mini10v running Lucid alpha 2. After some recent updates, it now only shows as AC power (and runs on full power profile). Running cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state in terminal made it work and recognise it was on battery. Killing and restarting the process did not work either.
