Indeed,this thing happens randomly.When I get it,most of the times it
happens when I click a desktop icon or when trying to do a "drag & drop"
and at the instance of the drag nautilus crashes.Previously,I used to
log out and log in again but now I have found a workaround -> Hit
"Alt+F2",type nautilus,hit "Enter" and it brings my desktop icons "back
to life" .
