Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem
The BBC has decided to enabled SWF Verification with effectively renders the BBC plugin useless. As this is effectively DRM'ed content which now relies on proprietary closed technologies to view I believe it would be the best interest of Ubuntu to either remove the plugin or convince the BBC to allow access to it again. http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news/2010/02/bbc-blocks-open-source- software-from-iplayer-video- service.ars?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Feb 28 12:09:15 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) Package: totem 2.29.91-0ubuntu2 [modified: usr/bin/totem usr/bin/totem-video-thumbnailer usr/bin/totem-video-indexer usr/bin/totem-audio-preview usr/lib/totem/totem-plugin-viewer] ProcEnviron: LANG=da_DK.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-14.20-generic SourcePackage: totem Uname: Linux 2.6.32-14-generic x86_64 ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- BBC enabled SWF Verification which disables the BBC plugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529415 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
