I encounter the same problem as described and would like to give the missing information.
1. - Start GNOMEtris via Applications/Games - Start a new game 2. I expected a normal game of GNOMEtris as was with Ubuntu 9.04 3. GNOMEtris opens an reacts very slowly, the tiles are falling at a minimum speed, the game reacts with a long delay on any key-strokes. 4. I am using GNOME 2.28.1 with the standard Human theme.
