Thanks for taking time to report this bug and help make ubuntu better.
There is a similar known bug in which empathy cannot access gnome-
keyring initially, so after rebooting start and close empathy and open
it again after 2+ minutes and see if you are able to connect. Please let
us know if that solves the problem for you.
