Binary package hint: gdm

Just did a sudo apt-get update ;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade the main
package that I saw in the update was gdm so reported against gdm. now
the system wont boot, the plymouth animation is working but nothing
else, ctrl+alt+F1 or any other function does not bring me to ttys just a
blinking dot. I cannot start recovery mode either.
