Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-user-share

After figuring out that apache2 provides "personal file sharing" -- from
bug #536766 -- I happily went about sharing file and creating a public-
write directory (working with a friend on large image files, atm, so
very useful). This all works.

However, the public-write directory creates files owned by
nobody:nogroup, which is most likely the owner of the apache process
(?).

This behavior is unexpected, and inconsistent with what a user expects.
If the user creates, via the file manager, a directory for others to
place files into, then a user expects that he or she will be able to
view, edit, or move those files.

Having mild understanding of what is going on underneath, I'm going to
attribute this to nautilus (apache's doing the file writing, but
nautilus sets up the expectations).
