@Jefspa Leta: Thanks for the underlying information... It's right that having background from default theme is not so nice to see when you don't want mauve colors on your desk and have removed default background, even if this no more a fundamental deal-breaker for ubuntu choice.
I read some would like to make this configurable using an interface... But maybe something more simple could be done: -Configure gdm login background according to proposed (or last) login user theme background... because these are usually synchronised by users so we could imo avoid creating another config and do this automatically. -Use a default neutral login theme, black or grey colors for instance, that will be convenient whatever user theme will be.
