* Removed power
* Ran the command "killall gnome-power-manager && gnome-power-manager --verbose
2>&1 | tee gpm.log"
* Reattached power
* Different behaviour:
  - The power manager icon in the notification area immediately disappeared,
and there was no tooltip - but the power manager output did show a line "-
tooltip: Laptop battery is fully charged"

* Removed power and let it run down to about 65%
* Ran command "killall gnome-power-manager && gnome-power-manager --verbose
2>&1 | tee gpm-2.log"
* Waited a while
* Reattached power
* Notification "battery fully charged" did appear, and power icon disappeared
* After about 20s, power icon reappeared
* power manager stopped

Attaching gpm.log and gpm-2.log.
