You have been subscribed to a public bug:
When I try to remove a keyboard layout from Keybopard Preferences and
when there is a syntax error within the layout configuration (no comma
between 2nd and 3rd cases: key <TLDE> { [ Cyrillic_io,
Cyrillic_IO apostrophe, asciitilde ] };) the
following error is displayed. It does not allow indentification of the
real reason.
Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation
X server version data:
The X.Org Foundation
10604000
If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
Xorg logs are not very helpful, too:
(EE) Error loading keymap /var/lib/xkb/server-0.xkm
Is it possible to display meaningful error?
** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
