I've already said in the description, but here goes again: go to
System->Preferences->Monitors and toggle "Show monitors in panel" then
go to the monitor applet in the top panel and click Left rotation.
Before the restore countdown is over, click another screen rotation.
You'll see that another restore countdown appears, and when the first
one is over, the screen rotation goes to the previews state, but it
leaves the restore countdown running and the timer goes to negative
values and never disappears.

I must mention that this is true only with the default graphics driver.
If I install NVIDIA driver, rotation is not available any more.
