Binary package hint: nautilus

Running live CD 10,04, I am trying to access my desk top on the hard
drive so i can back up my crap but it is telling me i do not not have
permission.  THERE NO FREAKING LOGIN WINDOW????? I when i go to folder
settings... STILL NO LOGIN WINDOW??? Its 2010 the last time i checked??
Linux is still in the stone age??? where the LOGIN WINDOW????
