Binary package hint: gnome

I've found on one of my two x64 Beta 2 10.04 setups, that the "Change
Desktop Background" dialog is VERY slow to open.. An error message
"Unable to start the Settings Manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'..."
appears (screenshot here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dawning/4522829430/).

Eventually the expected dialog/window does appear and operates normally.

A video of this behavior can be viewed here:

Note that on one of my machines I observe this problem, but not on the
other. The only thing I can think of being significantly different is
the problem machine has a few mount points declared in fstab that are
sshfs shares - so some times things can go a little weird if I had a
file open on an sshfs mount and then suspend/resume my machine. However,
I observe this error on the problem machine with nothing mounted other
than root. But the sshfs shares may still be relevant due to stale
handles or something (I'm not sure how to look for those).

Thanks & good luck!
