You can see here that the develoipers of Evolution consider 2.30 the stable release: http://projects.gnome.org/evolution/download.shtml We are currently using 2.28, either in Lucid and in Karmic, which is an old stable, but which is NOT a good old stable release. It has in facts several issues and there aren't good reason to stay with this version.
