I followed the instructions on the link you sent me.

I tried two things.

1. I launched nautilus from inside GDB.
2. I attached the GDB to a running instance.

The results were the same.

I also tried running the script at the bottom of the page describing gdb
usage. This is the log file it produces

The program has no registers now.
