Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gdm
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my desktop machine. The first
reboots were fine, but after installing fglrx drivers GDM freezes as it
starts up. With autologin enabled, I get to see my mouse, the background
and hear part of the start melody before everything freezes - I can't
move the mouse or switch to a terminal.
With GDM autologin disabled, I just get to see the login background
before it freezes. The problem also remains after removing the fglrx
drivers.
I can start X without problems using startx. XDM as a login manager also
works.
