Okay, I waded through the mail I stockpiled on the POP server and
verified I had everything after moving messages from my Junk folder to
my Inbox.  I don't think I lost anything.

What I want to know is how do I "tune" the Junk Mail filter in evolution
so that this doesn't happen again?  There must be some way for me to
adjust it so that it doesn't run amuck like it did after last Sunday.
Messages from people in my address book, as well as those that weren't
were being routed to the Junk folder.  Only a handful of messages were
let through to my normal inbox and through the routing filters I have
had in place for years.  I don't see any option to adjust the Junk Mail
filtering other than to turn it off by unchecking "Check incoming
messages for junk" or to change the "Check custom headers for junk"
settings, where I have the default "X-Spam-Flag : YES" and "X-Spam-Level
: *****".  I can't say I would know what to reset these to if they are
the problem.

The "Default junk plugin", "Bogofilter" is supposedly installed -- is
this where the problem is, and if so, how do I rectify it?  The only
other settings are "Spamassassin Options:  Include remote tests (turned
on)" and Bogofilter Options: Convert message text to Unicode (also
turned on)", but I don't know what the ramifications of these settings
would be so I don't want to just blindly start changing things.

None of these settings have been changed since I installed Hardy years
ago.  The sudden redirection of my mail to Junk makes me think that this
might be something in Spamassassin's "remote tests" since that is turned
on.  I really hate to just make a change without any knowledge of what
might happen (i.e. what that setting actually means and what the
differences between having it on or off would mean to my system).  The
help I read basically just says to me that remote tests will take
longer, but fails to indicate what those tests might be looking for or
if there is any way to fine tune them.  The setting I have saying to not
mark as junk anyone who is in my address book contains a caveat that
indicates it will be overridden if spam headers are recognized (again an
external test), so since both senders who are and are not in my address
book were shot down, I again am left feeling that it's external tests
that have messed up my mail delivery.

Are these external tests located on my ISP's POP server, or are they a
web based service covering all servers?  I would think, that if they are
on my ISP's server(s) that my ISP is who I need to confront, but if they
are web based, I would think that I'm not the only one affected by these
test changes.  Has there been a rash of mail interruptions, or was I
somehow singled out?

Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated.
