Binary package hint: totem
Totem frequently freezes and locks up the system when playing video
files of all kinds. A hard reboot is required to unlock the system.
This seems to always occur when trying to play a video after recently
closing Totem. The system freezes after double-clicking the video file
without playing any part of the video. This happens with many types of
media containers and codecs, including all the most widely used avi,
wmv, mpeg, mp4, etc.
The problem appeared in the Lucid beta releases, and has continued on
fresh installs of the Lucid LTS release.
