Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility
I tried creating a RAID array from Disk Utility. However, it said it
couldn't find mdadm. Having encountered the word before, i figured its a
package to be installed so I manually installed from Synaptic. It
automatically suggested postfix although that doesn't look necessary for
mdadm to function.
this might be a duplicate of bug #440831 but the point here is that
given the LTS nature of this release, i believe mdadm should come
installed as standard. I propose the solution as where the next time a
lucid pc upgrades, mdadm is put in as a new install. without postfix if
its unnecessary.
But on the bright side, once installed it works like a charm! Windows
makes a big mess of creating RAID arrays but its a breeze in Ubuntu. I
think it is not entirely noob friendly, but its not alien. Very simple
and quick if you just read through what's going on.
