there are a few bug reports about this, most likely duplicated ones... I have Lucid amd64 and I'm also affected. I'm not sure but it seams to happen when computer comes out of suspension. the easy fix is to run "killall telepathy-butterfly" and then reconnect, it works, but it's a pain.
