Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

While Totem is playing media (audio or video), notifications are
suppressed (tested using notify-send). As soon as Totem is paused,
notifications work once again. This happens even if the player is not
full-screen. I thought this might be due to a setting that disables
notifications in case the user is trying to watch a video full-screen,
but I could not find a setting for this in Totem's preferences or gconf.
Other media players do not cause this issue.

To reproduce:
1. Open a terminal and enter 'notify-send test', which produces a notification
saying 'test'
2. Start playing a video or audio file with Totem
3. Try running 'notify-send test' again, which should not produce any
notification
4. Pause Totem, then execute 'notify-send test' one more time, which should work

This may be a GNOME-specific issue since a friend who tested this on KDE
said he was unable to reproduce it. However, if that's the case I'm not
sure what package is responsible.

I'm using Lucid, fully up to date.
