I have installed already two applications (gimp and devede) in two different
machines.
After installation, they didn't appear on the applications menu (in graphics
and sound and
video, respectively), until I logged out and in again. Therefore, until
restarting the session,
the only way to launch those applications was through the command line. By the
way,
I've installed both from the command line using apt-get install.
This is Lucid, one on a 64bit machine, the other on a 32bit one.
