Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu release: Lucid 10.04 LTS
Evolution version: 2.28.3

When sending emails to contacts whose "nicknames" include a title and/or
a middle initial, Evolution seems to mess up the name and email address.
The problem appears to be traceable to a full stop somewhere in the
nickname.

An email to "Joe Bloggs <[email protected]>" behaves as expected: the
email actually is sent to the specified name and address. So also for
"Mr Joe Bloggs", "Joseph Q Bloggs" and "Mr Joseph Q Bloggs".

However, as soon as I use a full stop in the name or the title, things
go horribly wrong:

"Joseph Q. Bloggs <[email protected]>" becomes "Joseph Q.Bloggs
<[email protected]>" (note the disappearance of the space between Q. and
Bloggs). While in this case it's not fatal, matters rapidly get worse...

"Mr. Joe Bloggs <[email protected]>" becomes "Mr.JoeB <loggs
[email protected]>". Somehow, the presence of a full stop causes the
program to unify the name into one string, which is then cut off at the
sixth character.

"Mr. Joseph Bloggs <[email protected]>" is similarly turned into
"Mr.JosephB <loggs [email protected]>".

"Mr. Joseph Q. Bloggs <[email protected]>" is turned into "Mr.JosephQ
<.Bloggs [email protected]>".

This problem occurs whether the nickname / address combination is
selected from the Address Book or typed in by hand.
