Binary package hint: empathy
In Maverick, Empathy's notifications stop correctly after running
Update-Manager or install software from the Software-Center. Cannot
currently reproduce with 100% certainty, but after running one of those
two situations, Empathy will stop flashing the window list item, will
not pop-up a notification and the Messaging Menu icon will not register
a new message.
What causes this is unknown as after those programs are shut down, the
problem persists in a seemingly random way. Some messages will show
afterward, some will not.
