Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

For some odd reason I haven't entirely determined, f-spot release
tarballs don't include all their extensions. For instance, while
http://f-spot.org/Extensions, Changelog and the git tree lists quite a
few tools:

  http://git.gnome.org/browse/f-spot/tree/extensions/Tools
        ChangePhotoPath
        DevelopInUFraw
        HashJob
        LiveWebGallery
        MergeDb
        MetaPixel
        PictureTile
        RawPlusJpeg
        RetroactiveRoll
        ScreensaverConfig
        SyncCatalog

The actual 0.6.1.5 and 0.7.0 tarballs only contain these:

  ChangePhotoPath
  DevelopInUFraw
  HashJob
  LiveWebGallery
  MergeDb
  RawPlusJpeg
  RetroactiveRoll
  ScreensaverConfig

This means

  MetaPixel
  PictureTile
  SyncCatalog

are missing.

Perhaps because of this, the Ubuntu build is lacking a few key
extensions. One of these is SyncCatalog, which has been noticed as being
missing by other users in
https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/f-spot/+question/111589

I've managed to download a tip build of f-spot and modified SyncCatalog
slightly to get it to build for 0.6.15; I'll attach a tarball shortly
and perhaps that's the right way forward (packaging them separately, and
including them in the repository). Or perhaps the right way forward is
to investigate upstream why the tarball is missing these extensions. Has
it been that just nobody noticed?

I've verified this bug exists in Lucid's current 0.6.1.5 but not against
Maverick current.
