Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gdm
Bug is similar to 29064, with the exception of the "wrong password"
notification. I get the desktop beginning to load (I have a personalised
background) then the screen blanks and display is garbled, then I am returned
to the logon screen. This is repeated until the third attempt. I use the same
standard logon screen, select user by mouse, then type password and hit
'return'. No difference experienced when using mouse to select 'log on'.
I have multiple user accounts set up. I have not yet attempted to log on to
these accounts to see if the problem exists there also, but will do so.
Using 'Lucid'.

When logging in, the desktop appears, then the system appears to log back out
again / reset and I am returned to the logon screen. This typically happens
twice, and logon is successful on the third attempt.
