If the directory being displayed by the file selector has a file in it
that is actively being written to, the file selector becomes
unresponsive. The file selector seems to be spending so much time
constantly updating the file size that it ignores the mouse presses.
You can reproduce this using HandBrake. Start handbrake transcoding
some file. Then, attempt to queue another transcoding using a source
file that is located in the destination directory. The file picker will
come up and you will see the destination file of your current transcode
job. The file size will be changing and you will not be able to select
another source file.
I am transcoding using the Apple iPhone & iPod Touch setting of
HandBrake.
