** Attachment added: "complete (very long) output of rhythmbox --debug" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/52660880/rhythmbox-debug-output.txt.bz2
** Description changed: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I am using a 2GB 2nd generation ipod shuffle (lsusb reports as "05ac:1301 Apple, Inc. iPod Shuffle 2.Gen") that was recently initialized with iTunes on Windows. Steps to reproduce: 1. connect ipod 2. start rhythmbox 3. add a song to ipod 4. right click on ipod (in rhythmbox) and select eject 5. disconnect ipod and try to listen Expected outcome: new song can now be played on ipod Actual outcome: song cannot be played on ipod If started from terminal with rhythmbox --debug, the following output is given: - (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rb_removable_media_manager_cmd_eject_medium] rb-removabl - e-media-manager.c:978: ejecting mount - (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [window_focus_cb] rb-mmkeys-plugin.c:142: window got focu - s, re-grabbing media keys - (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rhythmdb_mount_removed_cb] rhythmdb-monitor.c:491: volum - e file:///media/IPOD unmounted - (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rb_removable_media_manager_remove_mount] rb-removable-me - dia-manager.c:799: mount removed - (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rb_itdb_save] rb-ipod-db.c:127: Writing iPod database to - disk - (rhythmbox:2000): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Could not write database to iPod: iTunes - directory not found: '/media/IPOD/iPod_Control/iTunes' (or similar). + (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rb_removable_media_manager_cmd_eject_medium] rb-removable-media-manager.c:978: ejecting mount + (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [window_focus_cb] rb-mmkeys-plugin.c:142: window got focus, re-grabbing media keys + (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rhythmdb_mount_removed_cb] rhythmdb-monitor.c:491: volume file:///media/IPOD unmounted + (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rb_removable_media_manager_remove_mount] rb-removable-media-manager.c:799: mount removed + (15:23:15) [0x9c54028] [rb_itdb_save] rb-ipod-db.c:127: Writing iPod database to disk + (rhythmbox:2000): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Could not write database to iPod: iTunes directory not found: '/media/IPOD/iPod_Control/iTunes' (or similar). It appears that the disk is being unmounted before it tries to write the database. A work-around is to quit rhythmbox instead of ejecting the ipod. Then manually unmount the ipod before disconnecting. (Before unmounting, make sure you have actually quit and that rhythmbox is not still running in the tray/panel.)
