Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
The password input window of the screen saver is displayed only on one monitor.
If a monitor is removed between the moment the screen was locked and the moment
one tries to unlock it, the computer appears frozen, although it is not: it is
only waiting for the user to type his password, but the password input window
is displayed on a monitor that is no longer present.
This happens quite frequently with notebook computers. For instance, at work I
use an external monitor in addition to the notebook's own screen. When I leave,
I just close the lid of the computer so that it goes into standby. When I get
home and open the lid, without connecting an external monitor, I just get a
black screen. I can type the password and it unlocks ok, but sometimes I forget
about that and think the computer has frozen.
